The Lugo Wedding at the Willows | Lubbock Texas Wedding Photographer

Weddings are more than just ceremonies; they are celebrations of love, unity, and unforgettable moments. At Candace Johnson Photography, we understand the profound significance of capturing these timeless memories. Our wedding photography gallery stands as a testament to the artistry and emotion that defines each unique union.

Weddings are magical moments filled with love, joy, and the promise of forever. As a wedding photographer, I have the incredible privilege of capturing these precious moments, turning them into timeless memories that couples will cherish for a lifetime. Today, I invite you to step into my world and experience what it’s like to work behind the lens on one of the most important days in people’s lives by seeing what I do from start to finish!

ARRIVAL

During Cameron + Katie’s wedding, I begin the day by greeting Katie in the bridal suite and introducing myself to all of her bridesmaids. From here I start to gather all of her important items for her detail shots that she wants included in the photos. This can be items like veils, ring boxes, invitations, florals, etc for extra detail. I find a good spot for shoot which is either in the shade or a well lit area if it’s indoors and just play with the items until I get a good composition of everything.

Items I used for Katie’s Details :

  • Grandmas Vintage Veil

  • Shoes

  • Rings

  • Necklace and Earrings

  • Perfume

  • Invitations

  • Florals

  • Natures Fallen Leaves

WEDDING PARTY PORTRAITS

Next up is the wedding party portraits and couples portraits right before the ceremony. Depending on each couple, they can decide when to take these. This all depends on if they are doing a first look or not. Cameron and Katie had decided to do a first look and shortly after opted to knock out the wedding party portraits with everyone. This is a great option sometimes as it gives you more time after the ceremony to quickly knock out family portraits and greet family and friends during cocktail hour and not have to worry about running behind on time.

CEREMONY

Once the wedding party had taken all of their portraits, I start to head towards the ceremony site and prep for it to begin. I usually have a second shooter in tow for a full day so we can be in two places at once. This allows me to not only focus on the bride down the aisle, but also the groom as well. Everyone loves a good groom reaction!

RECEPTION

This couple was so incredibly chill; after the ceremony we took the family portraits which are usually pretty quick, around 15-20 minutes depending on how big the family is. I do try to get it done fast as I can so no one is waiting around, starving, thirsty, or tired. Kiddos tend to have a short attention span and it’s just easier for everyone if it’s short and quick. After family portraits, we did some table touches during cocktail hour to get all the guest photos in while everyone loosened up waiting for the rest of the festivities to begin!

On the itinerary for the night we had grand entrances, dinner speeches, first dances, cake/donut cutting, more dancing, reception games, private last dance and a grand exit! The Willows does and incredible job of coordinating an easy to follow wedding time line with their in house planners which makes the night super easy!

As always, I am super grateful for all the couples that put their trust in me to capture their wedding day in a way they dream up! I try to do my best to make my couples feel at ease and stress free during the entirety of the event and my goal is to communicate directly and squashing any concerns you have for your big day!

Please reach out if you feel we would be great to work with together!
